Kohaku Tendon

This is my first time trying Kohaku Tendon, before that, if you tell me "Let's Kohaku Tendon!", i don't even know what you mean. As my workplace is around City Hall area and coincidentally i had a early release from work due to some reasons, i quickly check google map which Tendon Kohaku outlet is the nearest and swiftly set my checkpoint at Suntec City outlet which is the nearest. I took a train to Bugis and i change to Downtown Line so that i can reach Promenade Station which is just right at the doorstep of Suntec.

As to how i found out about this Tendon food, i was scrolling through Burpple and filter search criteria to any Japanese best reviews food at $20 or below, and i took my 1 hour lunch to slowly scroll through to finally found it. When i saw the reviews and pictures, immediately i know this is the one budget and exquisite-looking Japanese food that i want to try.

Solo food hunters like me will always worry about seating space, it's like i have a plan, i timed my schedule and prepare how much i would spent and you know after work you will be slightly hungry so i always hope first attempt trip will be a success so i can sit down relax and eat. If i fail to find any seats, luckily, i always have a backup plan B, C, D.......if all else fails, i will just... actually i have not idea as normally my backup plan works.

I reached the Tendon Kohaku outlet in Suntec City at around 5:30pm and knowing Japanese restaurants normally have a seating area for individuals, i am quite confident that i can find seat. So here i am, greeted by the staff and show me to the tall seats instead of the regular tables & chairs where it near the chef cooking area. And i know what i want so i immediately order 1 'Kohaku Tendon' and yup, that's all. Don't be confused by the names, the restaurant is called Tendon Kohaku and the meal i ordered is Kohaku Tendon, just so happen they sound the same.

At $15.00 (before service charge & GST), it consists of

  • 2 x Prawn
  • Chicken, Vegetables, Mushroom and other seafood
  • Hokkaido White rice
  • Kohaku Original Sauce

The fried tempura prawns especially, are super tender and crispy, the fried tempura is not oily and has a light texture & quantiy so that it does not over cover the prawns. Their original sauce are uniquely tasty sweet with a bit of salty, blended very well with the rice and everything that's in the bowl👍 The rest of the seafood (e.g. calamari) and vegetables are also fried lightly, the tempura does not consume the entirely taste but you still feel the tastiness & crispiness of it.

You also realise there is an additional plate on your bowl, that is where you put the prawn tails on it and i really like it as it makes your entire meal look neat and clean. Finally, the process from seating to ordering and payment was swift without any hiccups so to all Japanese foodies, please do try this outlet if you are on budget and still want to enjoy the luxury ambience of dining in a restaurant.
